Playful, expressive and honest, the OMF project is a conversation of community, allowing expression through a simple message on a white dry erase board and a photographic portrait that reflects the true essence of each unique person in front of the camera.

The images of the One Million Faces project are taken by Peggy Dyer and are completely unretouched fine art portraits.  Raw capturing without filters, real people with their words, in their own words.  Allowing the beauty of each person to light up the page. 

I invite people of all ages, sizes, colors and backgrounds to write their “message to the world”. Together we create an improvisational portrait.

I am most alive when my subjects relax into truth. They take off their work masks, their parenting masks, their advocacy masks, their facade.

I ask them to literally feel their feet on the floor, to take a deep breath and to “share with me more about your message”. Their faces light up with the purest expressions.

This is my project, One Million Faces. This is my doorway through the complexities and noise of modern life into the exquisite silence that is a photograph.

Since its inception in February 2009, the One Million Faces project has rocked over 25,000 faces all around the world. As the photos compound and messages group together in community created artworks conversations that weave and connect this sea of faces. The One Million Faces Project is a calling of community, allowing each participant the opportunity to express themselves through portraits by photographer Peggy Dyer. Through the collection of these exclusive portraits, an undeniable sense of connection has emerged with each individual face and message. The One Million Faces Project has blossomed into multi-media community art events all over the world that blend art with heart: a conversation of community poised to change the world.
